Putting it all on the line.. Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin Q & A, Hultin/Meier, June 21

Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin has been putting in more work than ever and is ready to prove himself in the spotlight… He and “Sir” Charles Meier face off on the undercard of Truax/George June 21… Again, ESPN’s “Friday Night Fights” has a stellar undercard. This is another fight that could headline many shows. Both Meier and Hultin have great fans for great reason, they put it on the line every time and do not back down from a challenge! Hultin is coming off of a controversial draw this past April, but has used it to inspire this camp… Below is our Q & A with Hultin, get in touch with him or soboxing.com for tickets.

How has camp been going? And did the change of date affect how you train?

Hultin….Camp has been right on. If anything the date change helped make camp more intense!

Is fighting on such an anticipated card more challenging?

Hultin….I think it helps more than anything. Nothing but bringing my A game to the table for Friday night fights!

Your last fight ended in a draw, what if anything did you take from April?

Hultin…A very agruable draw to say the least. It lite that fire though, and made this upcomming fight a must win!

ESPN “Friday Night Fights”, how cool is it to see them come to Minnesota?

Hultin….It’s what Minnesota needs and has been waiting for! Amzaing to have it here in our state.

Your fight with Charles Meier has many boxing fans abuzz. Both of you are known for putting it all on the line and giving the fans a show. How do you see this fight going?

Hultin….Another all out on the line fight! My Team and I have preped for an 8 round fight and exspect it!.. I see Victory in my sites and will make sure of it!.. No stopping, going for it all!

Charles brings a ton of size to 154, have you been able to work with guys who have reach?

Hultin….I have. Some great sparring with a little heavier guys with reach and power! I have no concerns going into this fight!

Caleb Truax vs Don George… Can you share your thoughts on this match-up?

Hultin…Its a great match to be held in front of all our MN-fans! I think everytime I see Truax fight he brings more to the table! I see him getting the W with the fight going the distance!

Thanks for taking the time… Is there anything you would like to add?

Hultin….A big thanks to everyone who will be attending the fights! My family and friends having my back bringing the Hitman crew down to the cities once again! Big thanks to Seconds out Promotions for putting me on the card and Todd Bechthold for making it happen!

MinnesotaBoxing.com reported some fights being discussed as well….

A showdown between Duluth’s RJ Laase and Saint Paul’s Allen Litzau seems to be coming together for August 16th at the Grand Casino in Hinckley, MN. Although not officially signed and set, the two outspoken fighters are not pulling any punches in regards to the potential fight.
“I’ve been trying to get this fight for 3 years now” said Laase (11-1, 7 KO’s). “I hope he (Litzau) is serious this time because I want to beat the best version of him as possible. He likes to talk a lot and I plan on shutting his mouth in August.
The 31 year old Litzau (13-8, 7 KO’s) admits he has taken short notice fights recently unprepared but says he has already begun training and with more then two months to go, he says he doesn’t believe Laase will be able to touch him when they meet.
“When I have the right time to prepare for a fight, it’s a whole other level” said Litzau. “I will have over two months to prepare for this fight. I really don’t know much about him (Laase) but it really doesn’t make a difference. I’m not afraid of anybody around here. I’d fight (Floyd) Mayweather! I think this will be a great fight for the Minnesota fans and look forward to putting on a good show as always.” Full article on MinnesotaBoxing.com

Picks on tonight’s big fight by some of Minnesota’s finest boxers…

Just like most odds maker’s and boxing-heads, The majority of Minnesota’s pros feel Floyd Mayweather Jr. will do like he has always done and Win tonight. That’s not to say that is who all will be rooting for, but it seems to be the safe pick and probably rightfully so.. We’d like to thank the guys who got back to us on very short notice… Below are some of Minnesota’s pros picks… Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook.

Showtime Boxing

Tony Lee – Lee fights May 18 against Jeremy McLaurin for Minnesota’s 135 pound title…

I got Guerrero. I just think Mayweather having his dad as his lead trainer is going to backfire. Looking at their past and how they didn’t get along at all. And now having them together tells me Mayweather is desperate for a huge change. And I just think Guerrero being a strong southpaw is going to give Mayweather a lot of trouble. Saying that, I know if Guerrero wins. It will still be a huge upset. Im going off a gut feeling here! Because Mayweather, is Mayweather!

Joe Lorenzi – Lorenzi own’s Lorenzi’s Boxing Gym in West Duluth and is on a two fight win streak in his comeback to pro boxing….

I’ve got $. He is too fast, has better defense and he chose his opponent because he knows he can beat him. I see it as a boring fight. He will beat Guerrero to the punch and move/run away from him. He is not going to trade with the bigger guy. That’s not his style.

Caleb Truax – Truax (21,1,1) is known as Minnesota’s P4P best by most and will be fighting Don George (24,3,2) on ESPN June 21….

Mayweather’s on a different level. Guerrero will make it tough in the early rounds trying to rough Floyd up, but Mayweather will adjust and outclass Guerrero for a late stoppage or UD win.

Gary Eyer – Eyer is on a 3 fight winning streak, and coming off of a thrilling victory last weekend against Blake Franklin…

After watching the shows about the fight, a little bit of me believes Guerrero can win, he’s a lefty with a good punch but Floyd has a good defence and good chin and is the bigger faster guy. I think Floyd is gonna win 10-11rd tko. If Guerrero wins that would be awesome and there is going to be more people coming in the gyms every day to start boxing.

Jeremy McLaurin – McLaurin is set to face Tony Lee for the Minnesota 135 title May 18…

Mayweather for Sure!!!

Andy Kolle – Kaos Kolle (25,4) is one of Minnesota’s most accomplished fighters and is looking to get back in the ring soon…

Hard to bet against Floyd, against anybody. Floyd UD

Javontae Starks – Starks (6,0) has gotten back to boxing recently and fights on Seconds Out Promotions May 18 card.

Mayweather…too smart.too sharp… Mayweather on points

Tyler Hultin – Hitman Hultin also fights May 18 in what should be a thrilling fight against another always fun to watch fighter, Charles Meier…

Mayweather, he’s the smarter puncher! He’s smart in all aspects of the game! He will adapt to Guerrero, maybe not right away but it will happen! Guerrero will bring the fight no doubt! But I just don’t see him victorious! But I don’t see a KO either!..

Charles Meier – Sir Meier (7,2,2) fights fellow “fight of the night” boxer Tyler Hultin (5,1,2) on May 18′s action packed card…

Mayweather is too smart for him, and too slick… I think Guerrero will be tough for a round or two but when Money figures him out he probably stops him or beats him bad…

Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin (5,1,1) and staying busy…

The Hitman Hultin fights tomorrow night April 13 at Wessman Arena in Superior WI… He is also slated for a major showdown May 18, first things first… We did a short Q & A with Mr. Hultin below…Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook and twitter.

Yet again two fights in about one month… How are you feeling going in to Saturday?

Hultin….Its a great feeling knowing I get to stay busy!.. With every camp I’m learning more, training more, becoming the Boxer I want to be! Saturday can’t come quick enough..!

How have you and team kept from looking past April 13 and stayed focused on the task at hand?

Hultin…Truthfully, Its been rough! We have our target locked on may 18th.. But we know what has to be done april 13th before we look forward! I’m going into this fight saturday very hungry and ready!

Fighting in the twin ports is a homecoming of sorts, What’s your thoughts on fighting on T-Rex Promotions show in Superior?
Hultin….TRex puts on a great shows! Its all about the fighters. Ill fight anytime on a TRex card!

What should fans expect form The Hitman Saturday?

Hultin…Punches in Bunches! A more poised Hitman!

Is there anything you would like to add?

Hultin….I want to thank TRex promotions for the spot on this great card! My Fans who always have my back and keep me going! A big shout out to Todd Bechthold, thanks for making everything happen, keeping me busy and moving me forward!

Twin Ports ABC and Fox affiliates coverage of upcoming shows…

Fox 21 coverage of twin ports fighters in action this month. Some nice coverage of the northlands fighters… Some great fights coming up.. April 13 and April 27….Interesting Zach Walters’ Jungle Boy Boxing already has the belt his fighter, Gary Eyer is fighting for… This card boasts some nice fights, “title” or no, Eyer vs Franklin is a good fight… Al Sands (8,1) is fighting his stiffest test since his KO loss to TJ Gibson (1,4). Even though Lucas St. Clair has not boxed since 2010, it is believed Walters and Sands will announce that fight as a Minnesota cruiserweight title fight. Rising Heavyweight / Cruiser Jordan Shimmell (9,0) will be featured in a 10 round fight that just might be the biggest fight of the evening.. Shimmell has been sparring with heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko… Although he has had to stay in southpaw stance, the opportunity to grow is huge…

WDIO’s coverage of April 13 fights. There are now 8 fights with tickets starting at $10, we have been told over 1,000 already sold… Rob “Bravo” Brant to headline, also featured Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin, Corey Rodriguez, Winston “Nasty Time” Anderson, Joey “The Don” Lorenzi, and more…Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook and twitter.

“Sir” Charles Meier (7,2,2) to fight Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin (5,1,1) May 18, on the Caleb Truax undercard.

Hitman has a date April 13 that he must get by first, but the signing of Meier/Hultin for May 18 is sure to be a fan pleasing fight… And could launch one of them into the 154 pound conversation regionally… Also announced was Jeremy McLaurin vs Tony Lee and from barbs thrown at each other over social media, there is no love lost between Lee and McLaurin… The show will feature Caleb Truax’s return to the ring from surgery… This show is promoted by Omega Presents… Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook and twitter. We are still working on our twitter, but FB is very active…

Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin (4,1,1) Headlines Fargo ND’s boxing event this Saturday..

The Hitman and his fans have been putting in work.. Hultin fought in Saint Paul November 17, Minneapolis January 5, and is the main event this Saturday in Fargo, ND… There are a couple sure things when Tyler Hultin is fighting… You are sure to see an exciting fight and you know the place is going to be packed with Hitman fans… This Saturday is sure to be electric in Fargo as its the first time Hultin has been able to fight close to home since turning pro, and with his exciting victory over Stephen Watt it will be as the main event… Below is a Q & A with Tyler…Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook and twitter.

Congrats on your great victory over Stephen Watt. What are your thoughts on that fight?

Hultin….Thank you! The victory over Watt came as a surprise by most, which made it even better!  Since the Nov. fight in St. Paul my team and I have changed a lot! Making going into the Watt fight in January very relaxed and comfortable!
You weighed in at 155 for your January 5 bout, how does the lower weight suit you?
Hultin….At a Lower weight I feel stronger, faster, smarter! The 50′s feel great, and to me and my team its only a stepping stone to 147! After a few more fights that’s where I’d like to be, Where I will be!
You have some of the best fans in boxing, they travel well. What do you attribute your large following to?
Hultin….I’ve been very fortunate to have such a great fan base! I respect them as they respect me! To them its never about being the first fight of the night or being the main event! They know when I’m fighting I won’t stop until that final bell! I work hard because of my fans! I never want to disappoint them. That’s why I take it to the max everytime!
February 9, you get to fight at home for the first time. How does it feel to be main event at home?
Hultin….Being main event is an honor! But to fight in front of my home crowd is more than words can describe!.. After so many years of traveling, we get a back yard fight! And that goes to everyone who has had my back since the beginning! Happy to have the chance to give back!
Counting your February 9 fight you will have fought 3 times since November. How busy to you hope to be this year?
Hultin….I plan to be very busy! I’m an active person, and when you don’t fight for long periods at a time you start to lose that fire that makes you want to keep on.. Like now, With a new team and management they all agree and have been working hard to keep me active! And I thank them for that!
Fighting a tough January 5 fight and now headlining February 9, were you able to get any rest?
Hultin….We were able to get a little rest! But I liked jumping right back into the mix! Keeps that drive alive and fire under your A$$ lit! Ha
You’ve added to your corner in recent months, can you tell us about that?
Hultin….I have a great Team, and adding Technique Trainer Eric Hennington has been our best move yet!.. My head trainer John Hultin and Hennington work together great. Hennington comes from Elk River originally, but has lived on the West coast and Las Vegas! Lives, eats, sleeps, and breaths Boxing! My father and long time trainer hired him with no questions asked!
What should fans expect to see February 9 in Fargo?
Hultin….You’ll see on feb. 9th what we have in store!
Is there anything you would like to add?
Hultin….I would like to thank RDS boxing, Cory Rapaz promotions and Kaos Boxing productions for giving me this opportunity to fight at home and give back to my fans! It won’t disappoint! Big thanks to My Team, “Team Hitman (3D)” manager, and all my fans that keep me going! Thank you MNboxingleague for the interview! See you feb. 9th!

Ray Edwards (former Viking/Falcon) continues his boxing journey February 9 in Fargo, ND….

Saturday’s show in Fargo ND will be headlined by area favorite Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin, and loaded with young area fighters…Card as it stands according to boxrec. While heavyweights are becoming less seen on many shows, Fargo’s event will have three fights featuring the big men…

Aaron "Gorilla" Green

Aaron “Gorilla” Green (9,0) is one of the regions best up and coming fighters. At 270 plus pounds, he has the size to get in there with any of today’s heavies… He is built rock solid and has speed and quickness of a much smaller fighter. Gorilla Green is coming off of a UD victory January 25. Green will face Preston Shane on Saturday.

Ray Edwards, Carlos Gonzalez, Star Tribune

Ray Edwards (2,0) also fought and won easily January 25 in his second trip to the pro boxing ring…. Ray has the size and athletic ability to make some noise in the ring. For the most part, his boxing ability will remain an unknown until he gets more time in the ring. From all reports and from seeing his short performance on the 25th, he looks to have improved greatly in his movement and ring feel.. One problem a lot of big athletic heavyweights have is finding opponents, that will not be a problem for Mr Edwards as it seems every big man is looking to step in the ring with him. Follow MNBoxingLeague on Twitter. and MNBoxingLeague on Facebook.

Travis Fulton vs Casey Olson rounds out the heavies, could they be fighting for a chance to get in the ring with Edwards?

Quick Hits…. Two more weekends of Pro boxing action…

This Friday in Duluth, Zach Walters and Jungle Boy Boxing bring you a pro am card featuring a lot of amateur action and two pro fights… The Pro fights,  Gary Eyer (9,2,1) vs David Laque (2,11,1) and Harley Kilfian (9,12) vs John Moxey (1,1). Grandmas Sports Garden, Duluth, MN

Saturday February 9 brings boxing back the the Crown Plaza in Saint Paul… Card as it stands on boxrec. Phil “The Drill” Williams (11,5,1) vs Shujaa El Amin (12,3) should be a fun one… 10 of The Drill’s victories have come by brutal KO…. Also one to watch is Vicente Alfaro (5,3) vs “Bad” Brad Patraw (9,4) for the MN super bantam title….. More to come.

Saturday February 9 in Fargo ND bring Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin in the main event… His fights are always exciting and usual steal the show…. Aaron “Gorilla” Green will be featured as well. Green is now (9,0) with 7 of those victories coming by KO… Also fighting are Rondale Hubbert, Dustin Mason, along with some new faces…. More to come.
