Twin Ports ABC and Fox affiliates coverage of upcoming shows…

Fox 21 coverage of twin ports fighters in action this month. Some nice coverage of the northlands fighters… Some great fights coming up.. April 13 and April 27….Interesting Zach Walters’ Jungle Boy Boxing already has the belt his fighter, Gary Eyer is fighting for… This card boasts some nice fights, “title” or no, Eyer vs Franklin is a good fight… Al Sands (8,1) is fighting his stiffest test since his KO loss to TJ Gibson (1,4). Even though Lucas St. Clair has not boxed since 2010, it is believed Walters and Sands will announce that fight as a Minnesota cruiserweight title fight. Rising Heavyweight / Cruiser Jordan Shimmell (9,0) will be featured in a 10 round fight that just might be the biggest fight of the evening.. Shimmell has been sparring with heavyweight champ Wladimir Klitschko… Although he has had to stay in southpaw stance, the opportunity to grow is huge…

WDIO’s coverage of April 13 fights. There are now 8 fights with tickets starting at $10, we have been told over 1,000 already sold… Rob “Bravo” Brant to headline, also featured Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin, Corey Rodriguez, Winston “Nasty Time” Anderson, Joey “The Don” Lorenzi, and more…Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook and twitter.

T-Rex Promotions card set… April 13, Wessman Arena, Superior, WI…

The card will now feature 9 fights…. Twin Ports favorites Winston “Nasty Time” Anderson of Cloquet, Joey “The Don” Anderson of Duluth and Lornezi’s Boxing in West Duluth, Randy Ronchi of Superior WI, Trevor Marmon of Duluth, Eric Johnson of Duluth… Plus some of Minnesota’s hottest Prospects Rob “Bravo” Brant, Corey “Collateral Damage” Rodriguez, Tyler “The Hitman” Hultin, and now former Minnesota Viking and (4,0) Heavyweight coming off of his most impressive victory, Ray Edwards….. 9 fights $10!!!

This Saturday, January 5, Fight Area 51 and S.E.G. have an action packed Pro boxing card.

Rob Brant

This is a loaded month for boxing and it all starts Saturday night. Full fight line-up as it stands. This card features some really nice match-ups… Rob Brant (4,0) is stepping up his competition in facing Romon Barber (3,2) who won his last fight after losing a tough fought battle with Corey Rodriguez…. Another nice fight is Jamal James (8,0) vs Patrick Boozer (5,1). James is coming off his biggest victory to date in defeating Rodriguez and considered by most as Minnesota’s boxer of the year for 2012. Brad Heroff (1,0) vs Zach Wolff (0,2) should be fun and go all 4. The nights most interesting and exciting fight just might be Tyler Hultin (3,1,1) vs Stephen Watt (1,0). Hultin is coming off his first defeat and entering for the first time at a more natural and lower weight of 154. Watt’s only boxing match was a first round KO of durable Silas Ortley… Expect fireworks in this one. The main event features hard hitting Ismail Muwendo (11,0) vs Anthony Napunyi (14,11). Muwendo has yet to be tested and Napunyi is coming off a 7 fight losing streak, and hasn’t tasted victory since 2008. Here is MinnesotaBoxing.com’s story on Saturday’s event.

Jesse Kelley did another nice write-up on Jamal James / Boozer fight, MinnesotaBoxing.com.

Shows a poppin for early 2013!! News and notes…

Omega Presents ended 2012 in a much needed way, really fun event! There were a couple nice shows in 2012, but plenty of time to go over the past year through the rest of November and December as there are no more pro shows until January 2013.

We plan on posting our picks for (Regionally):

Show of the year….

Fight of the year…

Fighter of the year…

Feel free to add your thoughts in comments if you feel strongly… To be honest this was not a great year for regional boxing, but things look to be picking up!

All promotions have big plans for 2013 and I expect things to get back to the form of a few years back.. At least hope so!

Talked to Brad Patraw and his hand is healing well from surgery and he expects to fight January.

Andy Kolle is on the mend and expects to fight in January/February. (Fort at 154?)

RJ Laase is getting ready to begin training after his surgery and he too expects action in January/February.

I would guess the January and February cards should start filling up. News of who is fighting on each show should start getting hammered out.. Stay tuned!!

August 25, Saint Paul MN, Aaron Green (6,0) Heavyweight, Rob Brant, Jamal James, Ismail Muwendo, and much more..

S.E.G. and Driller Promotions are bringing the goods to Boxing! The show is loaded with some of MN’s top talent. Really looking forward to Corey Rodriguez vs Michael Faulk. Will keep you posted as we learn more…

Rob Brant’s debut tonight at the Hyatt in Minneapolis MN.

Robert Brant will be making his professional boxing debut tonight against Cheyene Ziegler. Brant had a tremendous amateur career and there are very high expectations for his future in the pros. I asked him how he thought his extensive amateur background would help him as he enters this new chapter.

Brant……“I am extremely excited as well as nervous to make my professional debut. Having the extensive amateur background that I do comes with a lot of pros and cons. Of course the experience that I earned in the amateurs will be a huge advantage in the technical aspect, absolutely. With that said, there is downsides such as adjusting my style from scoring points to winning rounds, and delivering punishing blows, which I believe will be a smooth transition that myself and my coaches Sankara and Adonis Fraizer have been working so hard on. The most difficult part will be the pressure to perform to the level  which I am expected by people after doing as well as I may have in amateur boxing. It will be a long and difficult journey but I do honestly believe I will end up on top.”

Looking forward to watching Mr. Brants journey….

RDS Boxing  and SEG bring boxing to The Hyatt in Minneapolis MN tonight. Tickets still available….

Really looking forward to seeing Jason Litzau back in action in MN. Patraw vs Mason has been brewing ever since Mason turned pro, should be fireworks. Green vs Gibson may be Green’s stiffest challenge yet (Gibson KOed Al Sands last fall). Everyone is excited to see what amateur standout Rob Brant will do as a pro…..

Here is the June 23 card as it stands today. Boxrec.com June 23, Black Bear Casino, Carlton, MN.

Jungle Boy and Draw Events

Al Sands (3,1) vs TBA ? rounds

Cerresso Fort (12,0,1) vs Dave Peterson (13,0) ? rounds

Michael Faulk (2,1) vs Richard Hargraves (2,0,1) ? rounds

Davalance Depoe (Debut) vs John Kingbird (Debut) ? rounds

Jerome LeBarge (Debut) vs Matthew Karaja (Debut) ? rounds

Fort vs Peterson could be interesting, new weight for Fort and Peterson has only one fight since 2009. Sands will look to continue to rebuild from his stunning loss to Gibson last fall, his handlers got him a quick win and it will be interesting to see what they feel he is ready for. Faulk has been in training camps with some of the best, love to see what he has. The rest of the card is unknowns. Tried all the normal fight information sites but nothing, have to go and find out…..
