Al Sands (8,1) will be stepping in with Lucas St Clair (2,1), St Clair has not entered the ring since 2010, but has stayed busy in the cage… Nice work so far by Jungle Boy… boxrec April 27 Jungle Boy Boxing

Minnesota Boxing schedules/bout lists and news….
News from the last week: Al Sands (6,1) vs TJ Gibson’s (1,4) MN cruiserweight title fight is off, it is unclear at this time when Sands will return to the ring but we assume it will be on his trainer’s and promoters card, when Jungle Boy Boxing has their pro am show Feb 1…… That bad news was turned into even better news, as MinnesotaBoxing.com reported that Ismail Muwendo (11,0) will be facing Wilton Hilario (12,3,1) in a huge showdown on February 9′s card in Saint Paul MN. Talk about making lemons into lemon aide!!

What’s up in Minnesota Boxing….
With all the shows coming in January and February there has been a lot of news, but always changing… We are sorry for the delay in getting information up, but want to be as close to accurate as possible, with boxing, that is not easy…Follow MNBoxingLeague on Twitter. and MNBoxingLeague on Facebook. Here is what we know as of today….
December 19, TJ Gibson (1,3) is set to fight another undefeated giant, 260lb Jarrell Miller (3,0) in New York, interesting news given his possible state title match-up with Al Sands at cruiser, more on that later…
Javontae Starks (5,0) is set to return to the ring in January…. Once he gets rolling with fights he will be one to watch at welter and light middle…
January will be a huge month for Minnesota boxing with cards set for the 5th, 19th, and 25th…
January 5, SEG/Area 51, This card features some of Minnesota’s most promising young talent… Robert Brant, Ismail Muwendo, Tyler Hultin, Jamal James, and more… We expect to get full line-up and bout sheet soon….
January 19, Omega Presents, Caleb Truax (20,1,1) vs Matt Vanda (44,14)….. This is a fight fans have talked about for a couple years now. These two know each other well. In the past they have been stable-mates, shared trainers, and have sparred hundreds of rounds together… Now they face off in what is said to be Vanda’s last fight… Can it get much better… More to come on who will be on undercard and ticketing… update, tickets should go on sale today, www.ofights.com
January 25, RDS Boxing, Andy Kolle (25,3) vs Cerresso Fort (14,0,1) This one has fans abuzz, Kolle is coming off of quite a lay-off and broken hand. During that time Fort beat then undefeated Dave Peterson by MD and just fought Brandon Baue, getting a UD victory.. Kolle is ranked #1 at light middle in Minnesota and Fort #2…. This fight is set at 154lbs… Also slated to be on this card are Aaron “Gorilla” Green (8,0) rising Minnesota star and RJ “T-Rex” Laase (9,1) the number ranked welter in Minnesota… Much more on this card in the coming days as well as ticketing…
February has three shows being talked about…
February 9 in Saint Paul is said to have Al Sands (6,1) vs TJ Gibson (1,3) for the MN’s cruiser title. They are ranked 1 and 2 respectively with Sands only loss coming to Gibson by way of stoppage… Interestingly that is the only time Gibson has been given the opportunity to fight at his natural weight, all his losses come at heavy and most against guys weighing 250lbs plus… He is doing that again in just a couple weeks and depending on outcome could affect if this fight happens or not..
Also in February, there have been rumors of a Jungle Boy Boxing show February 1, and a show in Fargo ND…..
We will do our best to keep up with all that is coming up, and hopefully get interviews and full line-ups as these events approach….
Jamal James (5,0) vs Hector Orozco (5,11) now added to June 23,(Pomotional State Welterweight Title), seriously, it is….
Fan of both James and Orozco and this could be a good one. Jamal James hasn’t fought in over a year and that fight was a UD win over Orozco. Hector has lost lost 6 of his last 8 fights including a loss to Duluth’s RJ Laase (8,1). Don’t let Orozco’s record fool you, he always comes to fight and always has a shot at that W. Looks like Zach Walters (Jungle Boy Boxing / Draw Events) is putting another promotional belt on the line for this fight. They are calling it the state welterweight tittle fight. I understand promoting but they are really making themselves look rather bad by claiming a (5,0) vs (5,11) is for any state title. Their attempt to take a crack at Andy “Kaos” Kolle (25,3) with a promotional belt in his weight class at least has two undefeated fighters (and Kolle is out with broken hand), granted their combined fight total doesn’t equal Kolle’s, but at least some merit can be found. This welterweight title has caused many a laugh in the MN boxing community, not because of those fighting, Orozco and James have a ton of respect but because the promoters are not giving their fans much credit… Other welters in the MN;(15,2) (8,1), (6,1),(13,7), all ready and available to fight. Promotional games are getting old but if tricks have worked for this long why change it up?
RDS Promotion’s main is set for June 16…Notes on upcoming shows…
June 16
Jason Litzau (28-3) vs Leon Bobo (18-9-1) will headline June 16th’s show at the Hyatt in Minneapolis….. This will be Jason’s first home fight in several years….The show looks to be complete and a good one… Green/Gibson, Patraw/Mason also featured.
June 23
Cerresso Fort (12,0,1) vs Dave Peterson (13,0) will headline this show to be held at Black Bear Casino. Draw Events and Jungle Boy Boxing’s first stab at promoting pro boxing brings a nice main. The Fort/Peterson fight will be an 8 rounder. They have added rounds to all their fights now and it looks like Al Sands will be stepping up to a 6 rounder but no opponent named yet. I commend Draw Events, for in the end deciding to go with an ABC member commission.
July 21
T-Rex Promotions with MNBoxingLeague.com will be putting on another show at Wessman Arena in Superior WI. RJ “T-Rex” Laase will be headlining the card in his stiffest fight to date. Tyler ” Hit Man” Hultin, Dustin “Bull Dog” Mason (Mason has business to take care of June 16 first), and Winston Anderson will all be featured along with several more exciting fights. Andy “Kaos” Kolle will be heavily involved in the business side of this show while his broken left hand is healing….
