September 21, Wildcats Hockey Arena, River Falls, WI – Peek -A- Boo Promotions
Pro-Am boxing action brought to you by former boxer Boyd Davis.
September 28th, Anoka Armory, Anoka, MN- Valhalla Combat Sports
Valhalla Combat Sports Gym is promoting a boxing card which features Stephen Watt taking on Cheyene Ziegler. Damion Hill and heavyweight MMA fighter Brad Scholten are also on the card. There will be 8 fights in all.

August 16 brings boxing back to Hinckley, Featured will be Jason Litzau taking on Robert Osiobe, Robert has spoiled some home fighters days! Robert Brant takes on Harley Kilfian who is going back to a better weight after bulking up to fight Al Sands  and as expected going from 165 to 193 was too much. Brant is moving from the 150 to 168 for the catch-weight. Very interesting in our opinion. Bravo should be able to outbox Kilifian, and has spent plenty of time at the high 160′s. Dustin Mason and Brad Patraw is years in the making, looking forward to that one. Nice work by matchmaker, Cory Rapacsz, for getting it done. Green should be able to walk through Stacy Frazier who has lost 10 of his 11 last fights, most by early stoppage. All in, could be a fun little show.

September 6 brings another Jungle Boy Boxing show. Its a pro am with three pro fights, two debuts and Al Sands… After Sands called out John Moxey, who was already under contract to fight on a different show, he and his manager barged into Joe Lorenzi’s gym while Joe was teaching a kids class and offered him a contract. Guess they don’t believe in going through promoters and managers. Joe had already given his word to fight Sept 13. But the bright side. TJ Gibson said he would let Sands try and redeem himself from his TKO loss at the hands of Gibson (1,4) on September 6. Also, both Moxey and Lorenzi have said they would love to face Sands after their obligations and are free in October. Jungle has Black Bear Casino date mid October. Also, don’t forget Phil Williams has said he’d take on Sands any time.

T-Rex has pushed Sept 13 due to too many fights and monster weekend of boxing, never easy decision, but probably a wise one with a very full September.

September 13, T-Rex Promotions, featuring Andy “Kaos” Kolle, Winston Anderson, Joe Lorenzi, and possibly Gary “Stone Cold” Eyer. More details as they come. The Promoter, RJ “T-Rex” Laase is in the middle of negotiates for a fight of his own.

September 21, Seconds Out Promotions, The return of “Golden” Caleb Truax after his incredible ESPN appearance taking out Don George with relative ease. Also featured Jeremy McLaurin vs Tony Lee two. They last fought to a draw and the 135 belt stayed vacant, don’t expect that this time. Rumors have some more very exciting fights on tap for this card.

This past Friday Seconds Out Promotions put on some nice competitive fights. 2 draws! Unfortunately I was on vacation and did not catch the action live. But from reading and seeing some video, Phil “The Drill” Williams can be in any fight if he sets his mind to it. Corey Rodriguez was in another war. What a warrior. Joey Abell took out Maurenzo Smith in 2, Aaron Green went a full 6 for a UD win, winning every round.

August 16 at Hinckley Grand Casino coming together.

Dustin Mason vs Brad Patraw has been added to the card. Nice fight! Card as it stands today on boxrec. Also Harley Kilfian vs Rob Brant at middleweight. Very interesting match-up.. Brant giving up some weight and Harley coming back to middle after fighting Al Sands at Cruiser. I believe Sands was 198 for that fight. I have to say, very intriguing. Follow MNBoxingLeague on facebook.

October 12, Hinckley Grand Casino, Pro Boxing…..

Robert Brant

August 25, Crown Plaza, Saint Paul MN, SEG/Driller Promotions…….

Aaron “Gorilla” Green (6,0) Heavyweight, Ismail Muwendo (9,0), Jamal James (6,0) and more. The Boxrec on this card is incorrect so I am just giving our highlights. We also always love watching Corey Rodriguez go. Rodriguez was to fight Faulk in what we had pegged as fight of the night. That fell off, but CRod is still on and thats always a good thing. We hope to do a little piece on Mr. Green in the next few days.

September 15, Wessman Arena, Superior WI, T-Rex Promotions….

This show will Main Event RJ “T-Rex” Laase. Also featured on the card are; Robert “Bravo” Brant, Joey “The Don” Lorenzi, Winston “Nasty Time” Anderson, Dustin “Bull Dog” Mason. Much of this card is contracted but the promotion plans to release bout list once more firm. Looking to be an 8 fight card.

September 22, Crown Plaza, Saint Paul MN, RDS Promotions…..

Andy “Kaos” Kolle (25,3) and Dustin “BullDog” Mason (3,0) on target…

A little over a week in, and Kaos Kolle if progressing perfectly. I’ve spoken with both he and one of his trainers and they both seem quite optimistic on his healing and getting back in to ring shape. Kolle is just ready to get back in the ring and hit somebody. So far its been pads and bag work. The real test will come in sparring and those crazy elbows.

Dustin Mason has been given clearance to start punching in two weeks. When I spoke with him yesterday, he was excited to get back to dropping bombs. For now, he is gearing up his road work and conditioning and is right on track to be ready by mid to late September.

Al Sands (4,1) has been added to S.E.G.’s August 25 show. We have been told that most of the card is now matched. They are in the process of finding a fight for Sands, so look for him on the undercard of a very nice show featuring Aaron Green (6,0), Ismail Muwendo (9,0) among others.

Late September shows and several October shows to be announced in the coming days and weeks.

News and notes from around MN

The Minnesota boxing community lost long-time coach, friend and mentor Larry Goodman this past week. He had a huge influence on countless amateurs and will be missed by all. Pros Kenny Kost, Dustin Mason and Robert Brant all had ties and learned from Mr. Goodman.

August 25 is the next date to see live pro boxing in Minnesota. S.E.G. and Driller Promotions brings boxing back to Saint Paul at the Crown Plaza Hotel and Ballroom. Aaron “Gorilla” Green (6,0), Ismail “Sharp Shooter” Muwendo (9,0), Robert Brant (1,0), Corey Rodriguez (5,1,2) vs Michael Faulk (2,2) and much more…

There are a couple rumored September shows as well as October. We will let you know as things tighten up. Cerresso Fort has said he will be fighting in Saint Paul September 29…

Vicente Alfaro’s name has been heating up in talks of multiple fights, will keep you posted as things tighten up.

Andy “Kaos” Kolle (25,3) and Dustin “Bull Dog” Mason (3,0) are both on the mend and working their way back towards the ring. Each could be ready for action as early as October.

The Minnesota Boxing Hall of Fame announced their inductee’s, check it out here, MinnesotaBoxing.com

Andy “Kaos” Kolle (25,3) set to return to action as early as October….

Andy Kolle (light middleweight) looks to get back in the gym in the next few weeks to test out his left hand. If all goes to plan we should be seeing Kaos back in the ring as early as October. Dustin “Bulldog” Mason (3,0) should be returning to action in the same time frame. Good news for MN Boxing fans…. Looking forward to seeing both Kaos and Bulldog back in action…
