More on Ronnie Peterson’s Minot ND fight this past Saturday

Ronnie Peterson

Ronnie Peterson

I have been in contact with the North Dakota Boxing Commission. I must say, they have been great to work with. I have received the official score cards, and after reviewing them, the third round is where there may have been some problems in scoring. In the second round, Peterson put Archambault on the mat and the scores were 8,10/9,10/8,10. The third, I was told there was a knock down of Archambault again, but can not confirm with commission or Minot newspaper if it were a slip or knock down. The scores for this round were 8,10/10,9/10,9. The one judge making it a 8,10 for Ronnie would lead me to believe that too was a knock down. Below is a round by round scoring tally.

RD 1. 10,9/ 10,9/ 10,9 - for Archambault

RD 2. 8,10/ 9,10/ 8,10 - for Peterson

RD 3. 8,10/ 10,9/ 10,9 – first judge for Peterson other two for Archambault

RD 4. 10,9/ 10,9/ 10,9 – for Archambault

According to most I have talked to, it would be very difficult to change the scoring in this fight. Reviewing and changing scores is a slippery slope, and there is a human element in scoring that can go either way. I have been assured that this will be looked at, but more than likely, the only thing that can happen, is a review of judges.

This is boxing, an everyone knows that if left to the judges, it is out of your hands. According to all who have gotten back to me, it sounds like it was just a bad decision, it happens in all sports with judging. I would like to thank those at the Minot Daily News and the North Dakota Boxing Commission for their help. I do have an email in to get a copy of the fight. We will post the video, if and when we get it.

  1. Looks like he did get the raw end on this one. I would like to know what the ref ruled in the third. I agree that the 8,10 score sure makes it look like a knockdown was ruled.

  2. Sounds like I should be getting the vid. I just have to pay for duplication or something. I just sent email to person this morning, and will let you know how it goes.

  3. Thanks, yeah, Im working on my investigative reporting. Dateline, 60 minutes, Im at your service. I think first I would need to learn how to spell.

  4. I was invited to go to Minot to cover this fight, but already had told Right Hand Promotions I would be at their show. While I am very happy I went to West St Paul, it would have been nice to have my own first hand story on all of this.

  5. Todd, if you would have driven 9 hours to cover this event you would have been a shoe-in for “loser of the year.” 9 hours to cover what, Lane vs. Walker? LOL!

  6. Just messing with ya. I can’t wait to see the video because it would certainly suck if Ronnie lost his perfect record by some BS scoring. I really want to see rounds 1 and 4…..both scored for Tomi unanimously.

  7. If ronnie would have done his business and won either the 1st or 4th it would be a non-issue

  8. i talked to the most of the dakotas people and the best they can do is a no contest. My best round and bigger knockdown was in the 3rd but yet that was the worst one scored on paper. i was sick a day prior to the fight and still am so i did look sloppy and may not did enough to win in there backyard i had NO energy to finish but everyone there was on my side saying i got screwed including Tucker Pudwell. Looking a it now i should of been more of an animal and just attacked if i wanted to win in his town hats off to him. it does suck if i do lose because then the Patraw will be stalled.

  9. Thanks for all the help and support it really does mean a lot.

ha and yes Tucker does…. lol

  10. What I would do if I were you Ronnie is set a rematch with him at a neutral site. Pound him to the mat and its settled. Won’t be able to get the loss back but at least it will be known that he wasn’t in your league and that the loss was fraudulent.

  11. Ronnie lost that fight!!!!
Tomi slipped once and Ronnie knocked down Tomi once.
Tomi is not from Minot..he is from South Dakota.
I would love to see a rematch of this fight!!!

  12. Even if the ref counted two knockdowns, everyone there knew Tomi won. I don’t know either fighters so I am not biased on the decision. As I said earlier a rematch would be great!
