Interesting thoughts from Fistic. And no, I do not know what promoter he is talking about.

I agree with some of this, and some not so much. There are some regional rivalries, but that doesnt have to be a bad thing. Its always good in sports to have rivals. But only good, if they actualy go up against eachother. The fact of the matter is, most fighters dont make the national spotlight so the added intrigue of rivalies is a nice motivator. But again the biggest thing is to make sure our boxers get to fight, and fight the best localy, so they can be most prepared when the national fights come. Just my 2 cents.

always disagreeing with fisted, i think he makes a good point.

  3. Todd says:

Actualy, I too, pretty much agree with what he said. But there is some real rivalies between regions. I guess thats the point I was trying to make. I think the rivalries are good, the not working together bad.

  4. If you think that I was trying to say that rivalries are bad for boxing, then you completely missed the point of the article.

  5. Todd says:

I think I understand the point. I havent done a good job explaining myself though.

On a side note, its good to see you here Fistic. Anyone who hasnt checked out his site should do so. Very well written stuff.

Todd there are no region rivalrys. Chuck horton is trying to create one but it just is not happening. nobody in minneapolis cares if a duluth fighter has a belt. neither zack or andy have ever been a big draw anywhere in minneapolis and never will. i think most of his article was directed at horton because he seems tob e the one stopping most of these fights from happening.

  8. Todd says:

No one person can stop all the fights. And never is a strong word. A good splash on the national scene would make for a large draw no matter where in the state the fighter is from. I disagree on the rgional rivalies. There are enough peope who think there are to make it real. What makes a rivalrie?
